Andrew Sorg

Andrew Sorg is originally from Piscataway, New Jersey and began playing the trumpet at eight years old. After receiving two degrees from The Boston Conservatory, Andrew won two trumpet fellowships to The Tanglewood Music Center and shortly after became an active freelancer in the New England area.
He has performed with The Tanglewood Festival Orchestra, The Indian Hill Symphony, Emmanuel Music of Boston, The New Bedford Symphony, The Berkshire Symphony, The Atlantic Symphony, The New Hampshire Symphony and The Opera North Orchestra. He has been a soloist with The Vermont Symphony and The Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Andrew has won chamber music competitions not only with Triton Brass, but also with The Royal Brass and Bala Brass Quintets. He holds teaching positions at Boston College, Boston University Tanglewood Institute and The Atlantic Brass Seminar. He has performed across the US and worldwide, including France and Japan.
In addition to classical music, Andrew is an active songwriter and composer in all genres of music. He independently released his own experimental hip hop CD, wrote numerous songs for a New York song writing company and recently completed a project for the New York Trumpet Conference called Hip Hop Excerpts, which is rhythmic training for the orchestral athlete.
