It’s been two years since Chef Louie known as Louis Dibiccari by day has been able to find the time to organize a dinner extravaganza, but his latest gathering this past Thursday was different. This dinner party was more of a celebration for Chef Louie, who will soon become the head chef at the new Sel De La Terre restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston.
While some of the guests attended Chef Louie’s Pasta Nights in 2003, others were newcomers like me. Five years ago Chef L...

I can still remember the first time I heard The Honorary Title. I can specifically recall the actual day, where I was going, and who I was with. It was a little over two years, one album, and a headlining tour ago. It touched me so much that I had to figure out who they were. What I found is now a group of five guys Jarrod Gorbel, Atom Boyd, Nathan Harold, Dustin Dobernig and Mike Schey. Tuesday night I was fortunate enough to experience the live version of the band as they played in Cambridge...

John Butler Trio opened up at the Boston Pavilion while the sun was setting. They are an acoustic, jam band that includes three males. John and his trio played an amazing set. Including "Better Than" and "Funky Tonight." Even though they are just a trio the music they produce is fantastic with a ton of energy. The whole crowd including my friends and I were sipping on Harpoon Summer Ale and dancing to the music, The Boston Pavilion is my favorite venues when going to a concert. It's open air, on...

Mud by Maria Irene Fornes made its inaugural debut at the The Factory Theatre recently.
I attended the show this past weekend on Saturday night and sat through two reading before the performance of Mud. The two readings were Schmolitics running October 30-November 1 and the second, Paranormal running February 27-March 7.
Mud’s main character Mae played by Janelle Mills is a woman trying to make a better life for herself despite her lack of education and skills. She knows that...

The Scene:
We arrived a little late the Boston Theater was packed for a Tuesday night, but it was a screening. The theater holds over 600 people and just about every seat was taken. The movie started right on time and we got to preview some up coming movies for the fall. The down side to the scene was that a person with really and I mean really stinky feet was sitting somewhere around me and I had to suffer through the entire movie.
The Movie:
The movie began with sho...

It’s been 10 years since the debut of the hit movie “The Big Lebowski” was introduced to the world. The movie has spent the last decade becoming a classic comedy that has entertained more than one generation. In celebration of the anniversary, Kings deemed last Thursday night as Big Lebowski night. The social event included many who dressed up as their favorite characters, threw on huge wigs, and drank while the movie played on numerous screens around the bar. I asked one of the staff members wh...

It's been raining for the past week on and off. So going to Jack Johnson is just what I needed. Driving there was dark and gloomy and the traffic was crazy! Jack got on stage and started jamming. The music was mellow and the crowd started swaying. The whole crowd was filled with people of all ages. Jack played "Rodeo Clown" and "Curious George" with guests Rouge Wave and Neil Halstead. The back round to the stage had multiple screens with clips of beautiful sunsets, flowing water and flowers so ...

Rude Boyz Productions proved locals do it better with a sold out comedy line-up this past Wednesday night. The show, which was located at Sweetwater Café in the Alley on Boylston Street, was made complete by seven of Boston’s premier comedians, DJ Phipps, and special guests, not to mention girls in their bikinis taking tickets at the door.
Following the success of Rude Boyz last production at Sweetwater, a cancer research fundraiser aptly named “Knoxie Project Benefit”, show creator and...

There aren’t many places where you can shop the latest trends (at a discount), sip complimentary fruity drinks and get a manicure or facial under one roof… all on a weekday night.
Shecky's "Girls Night Out," held Aug. 5-7 at the Boston Center for the Arts, offered all of this and more during my visit. In fact, there were so many girly goodies and treats I would even say I had a brief case of “over stimulation.” But it’s a condition I welcomed, and apparently thousands of women of all age...

The Scene:
People were swarming when we first arrived to the AMC Theater at the Boston Common. Women of all ages were lined up to see the preview showing of The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants 2. The movie was light hearted, made me laugh as well as cry. It was easy to relate to and had beautiful scenery in Greece and Turkey. After the movie I talked to Allie Banks from Cambridge she said, "That movie made me smile!" Our advice is to see it, if you loved the book, the first movie or jus...
