Four Christmases Movie Review

11/26/2008 | Kristin Schepici

His father, her mother, his mother and her father all in one day.

Christmas came early to the citizens of Boston who scored passes to the screening of Four Christmases.

We arrived 30 minutes early for the screening of Four Christmases starring Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon at the Loews Theater on Tremont Street in Boston only to be shuffled up an escalator and entered into what seemed like a never-ending line.

The passes didn’t promise we’d get seats, but they did pro...

Spamalot Theatre Review

11/25/2008 | Catyn Piver

Spamalot is a delightful combination of music, dance, and comedy bound together in their quest for King Arthur’s Holy Grail. Based rather plainly on Monty Python’s cult classic film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the production holds onto classic elements of the film such as the Killer Rabbit, the Knights Who Say Nee, the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, and the French taunters. However, Spamalot offers a new side to its characters with outrageous surprises and ridiculous scenarios.

Whe...

51 Lincoln: Creativity infused with food and art

11/21/2008 | Marsha MacEachern

When trying out a restaurant it’s normal to expect, and hope for, some creativity in the atmosphere and the menu. 51 Lincoln in Newton Highlands satisfied my craving for both, with an interesting artistic twist.

Creativity is a way of life for Jeffrey Fournier, utive chef and owner of the restaurant located at 51 Lincoln Street. An abstract artist, Fournier whipped out a sketch pad and, in just a few minutes, drew the roast pork dish with tostone and cilantro infused vodka that we were ab...

"Role Models" - Movie Review

11/21/2008 | Nina Shangari

Role Models, directed by David Waine of "Anchorman" and "Reno 911 Miami," as well as other popular films, falls under the comedic category. While most comedies attempt to add flair through zany jokes and hilarity, Role Models bases the majority of its story off of events that could actually happen.

Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (Seann William Scott), both salesmen for an energy drink company, are given an ultimatum in which they can either serve 30 days in jail or 150 hours of community ...

Jim Breuer performes at the Wilber Theater

11/17/2008 | David Diggins

Friday night I saw Jim Breuer at the Wilber Theater in Boston. You may know Jim Breuer from SNL or the movie Half Baked.

My friend Tim and I got to the theater around 7:00 for the 7:30 show we were able to find decent seats at the tables that had been set up in front of the stage. Our tickets were 30 bucks for general admission.

Chris Tadd, a local from Mattapan, opened the show. He did a great job loosening up the crowd for Breuer. He made light of the fact that he was one of onl...

Patriots take on the Gets at Gillette Stadium

11/16/2008 | Jenna Carr

Are you ready for some football? 65,00 fans were on Thursday night at Gillette Stadium. The tailgating began 4 hours before kickoff and many fans took advantage of the opportunity by grilling, playing games and of course drinking beer. Those who did not want to participate in the traditional tailgating were able to enjoy pre-game festivities at one of the many restaurants in Patriot Place. Patriot Place, new this year, is an outdoor mall area located right outside Gillette Stadium and includ...

Boston's Own Earle of Cupcakes

11/15/2008 | Catyn Piver

Both sides of Boston's busiest shopping area are splattered with new and innovative designers and boutiques. In fact, Newbury Street is where many of Boston's most popular clothing companies make their mark. While many of them follow the pattern of "get rich quick" and sell their merchandise to larger investors, there is one store on the block that is following the beat of a different drummer, and etching out a name for itself in the process.

"I could make a lot of...

A Great Night Out in Faneuil Hall

11/11/2008 | David Diggins

My buddy Travers always knows how to have a good time. Saturday night was no exception. I met Travers and some of his friends at Hong Kong in Faneuil Hall around 9 o’clock, and proceeded to hit up a few more bars after that.

Faneuil Hall is a nightlife Mecca. There are tons of bars and restaurants and countless things to do. Hong Kong is located behind Sissy K’s, in the corner of Faneuil Hall that constantly smells like urine.

That sort of paints the picture for the kind of bar t...

Dinner at Houston's in Faneuil Hall

11/8/2008 | Jenna Carr

Houston’s in Faneuil Hall is an AWESOME place to go for a night out, whether it’s for a drink, for dinner or both. I do recommend calling for a reservation if you plan on eating, unless you don’t mind waiting an hour or so. But if you do have to wait the bar is the best place to hang out. With an impressive collection of imported beers, a large selection of wines, and a full bar you would be happy waiting there for hours.

The menu is phenomenal, with selections from sushi, salmon to burg...

Hard Rock the Vote @ The Hard Rock Cafe

11/5/2008 | Jenna Carr

The color scheme for Tuesday night was red, white, and blue and the atmosphere was electric at The Hard Rock Café’s “Hard Rock the Vote” party. The Election Night party was put on by fye and was a huge success. People in attendance awaited eagerly in anticipation to find out who the winning candidate would be. All of the flat screen TV’s broadcasted CNN and people cheered when their candidate of choice received more electoral votes. There were raffles, scavenger hunts, food and drinks on han...
