When you tell your friends you're going to see The Donkey Show this week, remember to be sure they know that it's a play. As the performance shares a name with an extremely obscene show viewable in unsavory Tijuana bars, it's good to clear up any misunderstandings before you start getting weird looks at work.
The Donkey Show is scandalous in all the right ways, a disco reinterpretation of a Midsummer Night's Dream that creates theater so explosive it comes right off the stagequite litera...

I went to a charity date auction at the Gypsy Bar in Boston. This event was sponsored by Projectsmile.org. Projectsmile.org is a non-profit organization that donates small toys, stuffed animals and coloring books/crayons to local police and fire departments for their staff to give to children that are involved in traumatic incidents. The organization was founded in 2003 by Catherine Pisacane.
Never before had I been to anything like this so I was quite curious to see what it was all about...

This past weekend I went and saw the band Chillset, which was a concert on a boat cruise out of Boston Harbor. They originate out of Medway, Massachusetts and have been together for three years now. The band is made up of Scott, Justin & Dan. Scott is in charge of vocals and the keyboard, Justin plays the guitar and Dan plays the drums. Before this I had never seen them perform nor have I heard their music. I was very impressed by their performance and the energy that took place throughout the c...

This past Saturday, my friends and I met up with my boyfriend Tucker and his buddies at the Rattlesnake on Boylston Street. The bar was crowded as it was already past eleven. We were just happy to avoid paying a cover. My friend Shawna bought us a round of Raspberry Lime Rickies to start they were sweet and unexpectedly toxic. One of the servers displayed some extreme dance moves as he carried his tray of drinks through the crowd. My boyfriend’s friends found a table and we relaxed for a while b...

I have to admit that for a while now I have been dieing to go to a drag show. While I am usually a dinner and a drink type of gal for a night out, I like to switch it up every once and a while and do something completely out there.
This past Saturday night was a let my hair down and just have a good time and get plain old drunk.. I headed down to Jacques Cabaret with my Girls with Moxie Meetup group. One by one we found our way to the cramped seats at the very front of the butterfly an...

Tamarind Bay’s most recent location (Beacon Street/Brookline) brings excellent Indian food in a hip nightlife restaurant.
While Brookline already has a variety of very good and inexpensive Indian restaurants. So I must admit that while Tamarind bay drew me in with its classy atmosphere and very simple yet effective design, I wasn’t sure if the food would live up to the setting. But Tamarind Bay pleasantly lived up to its appearance with easily the most beautiful presentation I’ve seen...

My friend Rachel and I decided to try out Marina Bay because it was rumored to have a good Sunday night scene. Our original plan was to head to the Marina Bay Beach Club. However, on arriving at 10pm we found that it was more like a desert island than a bustling club. The beach chairs, volleyball court, and bars were all empty aside from a few drunken loners. Although the club had potential, we didn’t really feel like dancing with ourselves so we took off down the boardwalk.
Marina Bay im...

I have been really interested in seeing a stand up comedy show for a while now. There are tons of places in Boston you can go to catch a great show. I was searching online for places to see local comedians and found the Beantown Comedy Vault located on Boylston between Gypsy Bar and The Alley.
So, over a week ago I promised myself I would go checkout this comedian named Greg Howell who performs on Thursdays, according to the flyer I found online. Thursday rolls around but I can’t find any...

I woke up this past Sunday excited to be heading into Boston to see Daddy Yankee perform at the Latin Family Festival. As I made my way to gate B, I heard the news. Daddy Yankee will not be performing. There would be no "Gasolina"...

Cambridge is fun because it’s all about the details. Call it cramped—or let’s compromise and say it’s cozy. The Enormous Room is located at 567 Mass. Ave., Central Square. There are no signs, just a red elephant on the door leading up to the smallest enormous room you can imagine. It’s dark and cinnamon themed. It’s warm. Now, does it have some kind of connection to E.E. Cummings’ forced stay at a French detention center during WWI? Perhaps originally intended, but nothing too noticeable b...
